Dated 10 September 2026. This is the chapter-wise weightage for NEET 2027, and unlike most pages with that title it is measured, not remembered. We tagged 4,858 questions from every NEET paper from 2013 to 2026 (including the 2024 and 2026 re-examinations and the 2023 Manipur paper) against the chapter each one belongs to. The numbers below are questions per paper across the eight most recent papers, 2023 to 2026, because that is the window the current examiner writes from, and the 2026 paper is in it. The 13-year figure is alongside so you can see what is rising.
The syllabus is the 2024 rationalised one, unchanged for 2027; deleted chapters are excluded from every table. That leaves 28 Physics, 21 Chemistry, 16 Botany and 16 Zoology chapters, 81 in all, for 180 questions.
The headline: the paper is lopsided, and Biology most of all
In the recent window, the top ten chapters of each subject account for:
- Physics — 49% of its questions, across 28 chapters.
- Chemistry — 60%, across 21.
- Botany — 75%, across 16.
- Zoology — 80%, across 16.
Biology is half the paper and its weight sits in a handful of chapters. Ten Zoology chapters and ten Botany chapters together are worth roughly 70 of the 90 Biology questions. That is not permission to skip the other twelve; it is the order your revision should run in, and where your most recent pass belongs.

Two things stand out. Units & Measurements has gone from under two questions a paper to nearly three; dimensional analysis and error questions are cheap marks that students under-revise because the chapter feels like Class 11 housekeeping. And the "small" Class 12 chapters, Alternating Current, Electromagnetic Waves and Atoms, have each roughly doubled against their 13-year average. The examiner is spreading Physics wider, and a plan built on 2015's weightage misses it.
Inside Current Electricity, one topic carries a third of the chapter: combination of resistors and cells, at over one question a paper and a 75% repeat rate. The chapter page breaks every chapter into its topics with the same numbers.

Coordination Compounds is now the heaviest chapter in Chemistry, up by half against its long-run average, and it is a chapter where every question is answerable from a finite set of rules: nomenclature, isomerism, crystal-field splitting, magnetic moment. Six of the top twelve are rising; Hydrocarbons is the one heavyweight that has eased, from three a paper to two and a half, which is still enough to make it the fourth chapter you revise, not the twentieth.

Biotechnology, both chapters together, is eight questions a paper. Nothing else in Botany comes close, and it is a chapter students leave to the last month because it sits at the end of Class 12. Organisms & Populations has gone from a chapter that asked two questions to one that asks four, and Photosynthesis has nearly doubled. If your Botany revision still runs in NCERT order, it reaches the two heaviest chapters last.

Genetics, the two inheritance chapters, is eleven questions a paper, a quarter of Zoology on its own. Biomolecules is the single biggest mover in the entire exam: from under three a paper over 13 years to five in the recent window. It is a short chapter of enzymes, proteins and nucleic acids that a student can finish in two evenings, and the paper has quietly made it worth twenty marks.
How to turn the table into a plan
Revise in weightage order, not NCERT order. Your first pass of each subject starts at the top of its table. The examiner does not ask questions in chapter sequence and does not ask them in equal measure, so a plan that treats Chapter 1 and Chapter 14 as equal is spending hours where the marks are not.
Weight the rising chapters as their recent number, not their 13-year one. Units & Measurements, Coordination Compounds, Biomolecules, Organisms & Populations, Photosynthesis: every one of these is under-represented in older weightage lists and in every book that copied them.
Do not read "stable" as "safe to skip". Ray Optics has eased slightly and still asks more than two a paper. Hydrocarbons has eased and is still fourth in Chemistry.

Is NEET 2027 chapter weightage the same as previous years?
