NEET 2027 — dates, CBT mode, syllabus and pattern
NEET 2027 will be computer-based (NTA to the Supreme Court, May 2026). Expected date, the Dec 2025 NMC syllabus, the 180-question pattern, free CBT mocks.
Is NEET 2027 online or offline?
Online. In May 2026 the National Testing Agency told the Supreme Court in an affidavit that NEET-UG will be conducted as a computer-based test (CBT) from the 2027 cycle, on the recommendation of a high-level expert committee formed after the 3 May 2026 paper was leaked and re-conducted on 21 June 2026. The committee also recommended multi-session, multi-stage testing — the JEE Main shape — to be implemented in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
What is NOT yet notified: the exact dates, the number of shifts, how scores across shifts will be normalised, and whether the 180-question, 720-mark structure changes. Until the NEET 2027 information bulletin is out, treat any page that states these as certain — including this one — as expectation, not fact.
When is NEET 2027?
Not notified. NEET-UG has been held on the first Sunday of May in every normal year (5 May 2024, 4 May 2025, 3 May 2026 before the re-test), so the working expectation is early May 2027, with the bulletin and registration in roughly January–February 2027. A CBT held in multiple sessions could spread over more than one day. Plan your revision for April, and check nta.ac.in rather than a coaching blog for the date itself.
What is the NEET 2027 syllabus?
The rationalised NEET (UG) syllabus notified by the National Medical Commission's UGMEB on 22 December 2025 — 20 Physics units, 20 Chemistry units and 10 Biology units. It removed material that is no longer in the NCERT books; a chapter being in your school textbook does not put it on the paper. Every chapter and unit page on this site is built from that document, and the practice engine never serves a question from a deleted topic.
What is the NEET 2027 exam pattern?
Expected: 180 questions, 4 marks each, −1 for a wrong answer, 720 marks, 200 minutes, across Physics (45), Chemistry (45), Botany (45) and Zoology (45). This is the 2025–2026 pattern and NTA's affidavit changes the mode of delivery, not (so far) the paper's arithmetic. In CBT you will read the question on a screen, choose an option with a mouse, and use a palette to mark questions for review — the skills a paper-and-OMR mock does not build.
How many students appear for NEET?
22,79,743 registered for NEET 2026 and 19,99,895 appeared at the re-test, against 22,76,069 and 22,09,318 in 2025 (NTA result press releases). The 2026 absentee count is an artefact of the re-test, not a trend. Expect 22–24 lakh registrations for 2027.
