What are NEET PYQs and why do they matter?

Previous year questions are the questions NTA (and before 2019, CBSE) actually set in NEET and AIPMT papers. nextAIR's analysis covers 4,858 tagged questions from 26 sittings between 2013 and 2026, each tagged to a chapter and a topic. They matter because the exam is not a random sample of the syllabus: a small number of chapters and topics are asked in almost every sitting, and the paper's size and mix changed twice in that span — 2013 to 2020 at about 180 questions, 2021 to 2024 at about 200, and 2025–2026 back to 180 in the computer-based format.

Why 2013–2026, not the last five years?

Because the signal is in the repetition. A topic asked in 8 recent sittings is a stronger bet than one asked twice; a chapter whose yield rose after the 2024 syllabus trim is a stronger bet than one whose yield fell. nextAIR weights the 8 most recent sittings above the 17-sitting history, so the 2025–2026 CBT-era papers set the allocation while older papers stop a single unusual year from dominating.

How nextAIR uses PYQs

Three ways. Allocation: a full mock gives each chapter as many questions as its recent per-paper yield says it deserves, then rounds to 45/45/45/45 across Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Where do the numbers come from?

From a single tagged source file of 4,858 rows (counts are tagged rows, not official NTA answer keys — a year with two sittings has roughly twice the rows). Chapter identity is pinned to the NCERT chapter list so a renamed chapter cannot split its count. The table below is the year-wise view; the machine-readable dataset behind it is described in this page's structured data.
