Ask five different coaching websites when NEET 2027 will be held and you'll get five different answers, most of them stated as fact. As of this writing, the National Testing Agency has not announced an official date for NEET 2027. Everything else is inference — some of it good inference, some of it copy-pasted from other guesses. Here's the honest version, split the same way we split the CBT news: confirmed, expected, and unknown.
What is officially confirmed
Two things about NEET 2027, and only two, come directly from an official source:
- It will be a Computer-Based Test. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed this on 15 May 2026, and NTA repeated it on affidavit to the Supreme Court in late May 2026. Full detail in our CBT explainer →
- NTA has not released a date, an information bulletin, or an application window for NEET 2027 as of this writing. Anyone stating an exact date is not quoting NTA — they're guessing, however confidently.
What the pattern says (this is inference, not fact)
NEET has fallen on the first Sunday of May for four straight cycles:
- NEET 2023 — 7 May
- NEET 2024 — 5 May
- NEET 2025 — 4 May
- NEET 2026 — originally scheduled for 3 May, before a paper leak forced NTA to cancel and re-hold it on 21 June (full numbers here →)
The only recent exception is 2022, pushed to July for administrative reasons unrelated to normal scheduling. If the four-year pattern holds, the first Sunday of May 2027 falls on 2 May 2027 — but "if the pattern holds" is doing a lot of work in that sentence, for two reasons specific to next year:
- 2027 is the first CBT cycle. Moving lakhs of candidates from OMR sheets to computer terminals needs more test centres and more logistics — for other exams that made this switch, that has usually meant more lead time before the exam, not less.
- The 2026 cycle was disrupted by a paper leak and re-test, which may change how early NTA wants to lock the 2027 calendar to rebuild confidence in the process.
Neither of those points to a specific date. They're reasons the usual pattern is less reliable this year than in a normal year — not evidence for a different one.
When to expect the actual announcement
NTA's information bulletin — the document with the real date, application window and eligibility rules — has historically been released several months before the exam, typically between October and December of the preceding year. For NEET 2027, that puts the realistic window for an official announcement at late 2026, not now.
Common questions we're already seeing
"Is NEET 2027 going to be delayed like 2022?" There's no indication of this. 2022's shift to July was tied to specific administrative circumstances that don't apply now. The bigger open question for 2027 isn't delay — it's whether the CBT transition pushes the announcement earlier, so centres and candidates have more runway.
"Has the application form opened?" No. Nothing about NEET 2027 — date, form, eligibility — is live yet. Treat any site claiming otherwise as wrong or clickbait.
"Should I wait for the official date before starting full mocks?" No. The date affects your deadline, not your syllabus. Every month spent waiting is a month not spent finding your weak chapters.
What to actually do with this
Nothing here changes what you should be doing right now. The date moves the deadline; it doesn't move the syllabus. NEET 2027 is expected to stay NCERT-based across Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Classes 11 and 12, with no structural syllabus change announced.
The only genuinely useful response to date uncertainty is to stop waiting for it. Chapter weightage doesn't change with the calendar, and neither does the value of finding out — this week, not next April — which of those high-weightage chapters you're actually weak in.
